Automotive Service Technology

The 排薇排薇 (WCCCD) Automotive Service Technology faculty is here to help you solve complex problems through critical analysis and effectively communicate difficult technical information to others.

Our program is designed to develop your skills and competencies for careers in automotive-related technical positions or for becoming certified as automotive technicians and mechanics. You will know how to diagnose, repair, and service modern automobiles. The program will also prepare you for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and State of Michigan certifications for any of the eight (8) automotive areas of “Master” certification.

An Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in automotive service technology from WCCCD prepares you for work across various roles such as: 

  • Automotive Technician
  • Service Manager
  • Parts Manager
  • Product Test Technician 
  • Entrepreneur

What’s the Job Outlook for Automotive Technology Technicians & Mechanics?

The employment of automotive service technicians and mechanics is projected to grow by 2 percent from 2022 to 2032, about as fast as

the average for all occupations. Openings each year, on average, are expected from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.

Where is WCCCD’s Automotive Service Technology Program Offered?

The Automotive Service Technology program is offered at our Downriver Campus. The DR campus offers classes for other automotive-related certificates and degrees. 

As a WCCCD student, you can take courses, use facilities, and get involved at any of our six locations.
